Claudine François "Post Bop" Quartet

Born on April 6, 1948 in Le Havre. Studies guitar, then chooses double bass. Self-taught. Professional debuts in 1972 with Colette Magny, he plays and records with Steve Waring. Sets up a string trio with Kent Carter and Irene Aebi. He then participates to the ”free” movement with Noah Howard, Franck Wrignt, Bobby Few & Mohamed Ali. He plays in trio and big bands with Butch Morris. Disque «Homeig» (Sound Aspect) and in the ’Intercommunal Free Dance Orchestra of François Tusques. Plays with Daunik Lazro: «Zweet Zee» in quartet, «The Entrance Gates of Tshee Park» (Hat Hut) and in Claude Bernard’s group «Blue Air» with Glenn Ferris, Zool Fleischer and Gérard Favoux.
He plays with Archie Shepp, Pharoa Sanders, Takashi Kako (p) with whom he records «Long Journey», with Doudou Gouirand, David Murray, Don Cherry, Mal Waldron, Paul Bley... Solo album « Eclaircie ».

Member of Richard Galliano’s quartet from 91 to 93. In 95, he joins theMichel Edelin Quartet with Jacques Di Donato and Simon Goubert : «Déblocage d’émergence» and tours in Europe with Dino Saluzzi. Since 1981, he’s been a member of Steve Lacy’s group. Numerous tours in Europe, in the U.S.A. and in Japan including American tours from . Also studies the Kora (African harp), creates an African trio with Yakouba Sissokho and Lansine Kouyate which becomes a quartet (with M. Edelin) Waraba.
